Marvel's Cloak & Dagger: Dark And Compelling

Marvel Television and Freeform made an intensifying yet riveting introduction for their newest series, Marvel's Cloak & Dagger. By providing a somewhat dark tone with the story of the main characters, they managed to show what brings the future heroes together. For those who have not heard of the eponymous duo, two teenagers, kleptomaniac Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and troubled high school athlete Tyrone Johnson are connected through tragedies from their childhood. As they get older, not only do they try to piece the puzzle together, they also go through the metamorphosis of their respective powers, Bowen with emission of light daggers and Johnson with teleportation and engulfing darkness.

While it is uncomfortable to see forms of media in a dark tone, I did love seeing the two-part premiere of Cloak & Dagger. I have yet to see these two fulfill their superhero roles from the comics, but it was lovely to see them go through unsafe situations to overcome their tragic histories and better themselves. Holt and Joseph fit the roles as Dagger and Cloak greatly. Holt really captured the rebellious streak of Bowen as a beautiful yet sly youth, while Joseph brought out the depiction of a man who wants to avenge his losses and appease himself and his family. I await for the next episode to see where the two continue to unravel their enigmas. If anyone wants see the origin story of one of Marvel's famous duos and feel fantasized while doing so, then watch Marvel's Cloak & Dagger on Freeform Thursday nights.
