‘Scrubs ‘26’: “My Rom-Com”-Hilarious Adulting Drama

For the third episode of Scrubs ‘26 (that’s what I’m calling the revival), “My Rom Com”, JD and Elliot, played by Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke, respectively, were fighting over their broken marriage and transferring those issues to their jobs, specifically with Elliot’s elderly patient in need of a heart backpack. It’s funny that the duo were still at each other’s throats 20 years later, mostly with Elliot pushing JD’s buttons while having that cute, perky blonde outlook.

A second issue was Turk, played by Donald Faison, dealing with Amara Hadi, played by Layla Mohammadi, a surgical intern who was eager to use the new technology but had no idea how to understand Turk’s driving metaphors for it because she was homeschooled and hasn’t learned to drive. It was funny how he tried to help her overcome those issues by learning to drive on a floor buffer

Overall, it was funny seeing the original cast come together with the new interns, and the patient’s ex-husband looking like Carl Fredricksen from ‘Up.’ I think the funniest was when JD had dreams of wrestling with Elliot and Turk.

Even if it’s mostly old humor just told to a new audience or whatever, I give this episode an 8 out of 10 because in the end, it was a little less dramatic and heavy than the premiere and it shows the characters, present and past, working on their arcs. Besides JD’s possible reconciling with Elliot and the fact that JD and Turk love hanging with each other more than with their own wives, I’m looking forward to what chemistry may be built between Amara and fellow intern Asher Green, played by Jacob Dudman.

Until next review, I’m William Beavers-TV Guy!
