'WandVision' was Quite a Spellbinding Vision

Image
Disclaimer: Before you read this, this is a review of a television series that came out over three months ago.   'WandaVision' was quite a spellbinding combination of superheroism, sitcom, and surprises. It had frequent hilarity with the titular duo making homages to numerous past sitcoms while also exhibiting some crazy plot twists. It will keep people going with a lot of questions with what’s going to happen to the remaining Avengers next in the MCU.  Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, uses her powers to resurrect and marry Vision, played by Paul Bettany, and settle down and live a normal life with him. Unfortunately, she’ll have more than her telekinetic hands full as she crosses paths with suspicious neighbors and agents from intelligence organization S.W.O.R.D. trying to discover her secrets.  Given how the show dropped a lot of hints that Wanda’s mind games couldn’t fool everyone, including S.W.O.R.D. Captain Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris, and tha...

"Ugly Betty" Shows That Brains And Heart Are Better Than Beauty

Image
I finished watching it on August 31, 2020, and I saw that America Ferrera can do the impossible as Betty Suarez in ABC’s “Ugly Betty”. It’s not just Betty’s determination to love in the show, it’s also the drama and development with the other main characters, and the pride shown for people in the LGBTQ+ community. Overall, for a show called “Ugly Betty”, it’s actually fabulous and full of surprises. Betty Suarez (played by America Ferrera) on her first day at MODE magazine. Photo courtesy of ABC. Adapted from the Colombian telenovela “Yo soy, Betty la fea” written by Fernando GaitĆ”n, “Ugly Betty” originally started off with a Mexican-American college graduate from Queens named Betty Suarez (played by Ferrera) who lands a job as Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of MODE magazine, Daniel Meade (played by Eric Mabius), despite her unattractive appearance in comparison to the snobbish-looking and -acting employees of the magazine. Regardless, Betty proves herself to be a determined assistan...

Marvel's Cloak & Dagger: Dark And Compelling

Image
Photo Courtesy of cbr.com Marvel Television and Freeform made an intensifying yet riveting introduction for their newest series, Marvel's Cloak & Dagger . By providing a somewhat dark tone with the story of the main characters, they managed to show what brings the future heroes together. For those who have not heard of the eponymous duo, two teenagers, kleptomaniac Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and troubled high school athlete Tyrone Johnson are connected through tragedies from their childhood. As they get older, not only do they try to piece the puzzle together, they also go through the metamorphosis of their respective powers, Bowen with emission of light daggers and Johnson with teleportation and engulfing darkness. While it is uncomfortable to see forms of media in a dark tone, I did love seeing the two-part premiere of Cloak & Dagger. I have yet to see these two fulfill their superhero roles from the comics, but it was lovely to see them go through unsafe situatio...

Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie Will Bring You Back to Gloriousness

Image
After 13 years of not seeing a truly happy ending, I was very moved to see Hey Arnold! come back on television. Finally, I got to see Arnold reunited with his parents! I am not sure if this is the end to the original series or a plan to revive it for modern viewers. Either way, it was spectacular to find everybody back and Arnold living what could be the greatest adventure for a young child. Craig Bartlett and Nickelodeon have brought a great Thanksgiving weekend special with Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie.

Big Hero 6: Baymax Returns- An Excellent Comeback

Image
Big Hero 6 was a comic book series and Academy-Award winning film distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Now that Disney XD has come to help, they have a wonderful chance to become a television series for children, adults, and others to see. To start the show off, in Baymax Returns,  Hiro Hamada (voiced by Ryan Potter) rebuilt his robotic healthcare companion Baymax (voiced by Scott Adsit) after the team's previous battle. After accidentally giving Baymax's creation information to a sinister bot-fighter, Big Hero 6, consisting of the two, GoGo (voiced by Jamie Chung), Honey Lemon (voiced by Genesis Rodriguez), Wasabi (voiced by Khary Payton), and Fred (voiced by Brooks Wheelan), reunite to save the city of San Fransokyo from this, and every other, nefarious villain. Armed with their intelligence, combat training, and otherwise lovable personalities, Big Hero 6 is there to put their minds to the test. While balancing being a 14-year old prodigy in the college of h...
